VOIP stands for Voice over IP. IP stands for Internet Protocol. So VOIP means voice transmissions over the internet. VOIP services are rapidly replacing traditional telephone service as a cost efficient means to make phone calls. The internet is worldwide and by using VOIP services, if you have an internet connection, you can probably use a VOIP services to call anywhere in the world for free or cheap.

 

Missionaries are using VOIP services like Skype and Vonage to stay in touch with family, friends and supporters. Fifteen to twenty years agao, many missionaries went weeks or months with no way to speak to people at home. Now many can chat daily over their computers. They can communicate needs, prayer requests and success stories quickly and cheaply.
